Spaces, groups and roles

Organise teams into spaces, decide who can see what, and handle access requests.

Spaces

A space holds a team’s work items, board, chat channel, documents and settings. Each space has a short key (such as ENG) used in work item IDs.

  • Open spaces can be joined by anyone in the workspace.
  • Private spaces are invitation-only; others can request access.
  • Star spaces you use often; recent spaces appear at the top.
  • Archive a space to hide it without losing anything, and restore it later.

Choose features per space

In a space’s settings, pick the features it needs: sprints, epics, releases, roadmap, calendar and service-desk tickets. Combine them freely, so a support team and a product team can work their own way.

Space roles

People and groups get one of three roles in a space: admin, member or viewer. When someone has several roles (directly and through groups), the highest one wins.

Groups

Groups are teams of people, such as Design or Support. Add a group to a space once and everyone in it gets access, including people who join the group later.

Access requests

  1. 1A member asks for access to a private space.
  2. 2Space admins get a notification.
  3. 3An admin approves with a role, or declines.
